Dr. Flynn is a 1958 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He founded the practice presently known as Georgetown Equine Hospital in 1959. During the 1970'S and 80's, the hospital provided full medical and surgical service. In recent years, it has developed an emphasis on sport-horse lameness.His caseload is largely comprised of hunter/jumper, event, dressage and other sport horses along with high quality Thoroughbred breeding farms.Dr. Flynn's interests include lameness of the racing and performance horse. He has presented numerous papers and panel presentations on lameness and the purchase examination at national and state meetings.He has researched and tested the technology now available in the IoniCare System for more than 25 years.Dr. Flynn is past president of American Association of Equine Practitioners and of the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and is a founding member of the Council at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia.
Penn Veterinary Medicine presented him with an Award of Merit, 2008 for, among other things, his "expansive career in industry, designing and executing investigative and mechanistic toxicology studies, collaboration with discovery scientists, and project management, in addition to providing pathology and clinical pathology support for regulatory safety assessment studies."
Gary Owings, President
Mr. Owings has more than 25 years of experience in thoroughbred racing and more 20 years as a breeder. He has owned and raced hundreds of thoroughbreds. He also brings marketing and sales management experience from the insurance industry.
Steve Whitworth, CFO and Director of Operations
Mr. Whitworth brings to the EOC team more than 35 years of varied experience in both financial general management positions with major companies and start-up ventures. He served as Senior Vice President of Operations for BioniCare Medical Technologies from 2003 to 2007, and ArthroWave Medical Technologies from 2007 to 2008.
Joseph C. Orlando, M.D., Chairman
Dr. Orlando has been an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery and an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, both since 1983. He has been in private practice in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery since 1973. He has authored or co-authored over 20 scientific and clinical articles.He is currently the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Good Samaritan Hospital and the Medical Director of the hospital’s Hyperbaric and WoundHealingCenter which he founded in 2000. Over 450 patient visits occur at the Center monthly.He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the AMA, the American College of Surgeons and many other professional societies. He is past president of the state’s plastic surgery society, the John Staige Davis Society.
